Pursuant to the provisions of the Industrial Property Law No. 6769, when an invention is made as a result of scientific studies and/or research conducted at higher education institutions, the person who made the invention is obliged to notify the higher education institution of the invention in writing and without delay.
For this reason, Balıkesir University academics, students, interns and employees must report to the university administration any activities that result in scientific studies and research conducted within the university or that are carried out using the university's facilities and for which a patent or utility model application is made.
İlgililerin Patent Application and Invention Disclosure FormUpon submission to the Balıkesir University Technology Transfer Office (BAÜN TTO) Coordination, the industrial property rights arising from the invention will be subject to the obligations imposed on universities by the relevant law. The notification of the application to BAÜN TTO and the university's evaluation process regarding ownership of the rights will commence.
The evaluation will determine whether the invention is a ‘service invention’ or a ‘free invention’. If it is evaluated as a ‘service invention’ within the scope of ‘inventions made at higher education institutions’, BAÜN will be listed as the “Applicant” in patent or utility model applications, and the person(s) contributing to the invention as specified in the invention form will be listed as the ‘Inventor(s)’.

Should the application in question be assessed as a ‘free invention’, the applicants will be informed accordingly.
