At BAÜN, ‘Problems and Proposed Solutions for the White Meat Sector’ were discussed

Balıkesir University Technology Transfer Office (BAÜN TTO) hosted the ‘Workshop on Problems and Solution Proposals in the White Meat Sector’ in collaboration with the Balıkesir Provincial Directorate of Industry and Technology, the Balıkesir Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, and the BAÜN Anatomy Society.

ZThe opening programme of the workshop, held at the Malazgirt Hall of the Balıkesir University Atatürk Congress and Culture Centre, was attended by Prof. Dr. Fatih Satıl, Head of the BAÜN Technology Transfer Office and Vice-Rector; Mehmet Ali Aşuk, Director of the Balıkesir Provincial Directorate of Industry and Technology; Prof. Dr. Ziya İlhan, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine; Director of Kepsut Vocational School Prof. Dr. Şükrü Hakan Atalgın, KOSGEB Balıkesir Provincial Director Deniz Timurçin, Technology Transfer Office Coordinator and Balıkesir MYO Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatmagül Tolun, BAÜN Teknokent General Manager Lecturer Burcu Aydemir, industry representatives, academic and administrative staff, and students.

The workshop began with a moment of silence and the recitation of the Turkish National Anthem, followed by opening speeches by the Head of the Technology Transfer Office and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Satıl and the Coordinator of the Technology Transfer Office Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatmagül Tolun. During the event, Dr Ahmet Gökhan Coşkun, who works at the Balıkesir Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, gave a presentation on ‘White Meat Production in Turkey and Balıkesir in Particular’, while Mehmet Bildibay, Production Manager at Has Tavuk A.Ş. Production Manager Mehmet Bildibay on ‘White Meat Integration Problems’, BAÜN Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Dean Prof. Dr. Ziya İlhan on ‘New Approaches in Poultry Vaccines’, BAÜN Faculty of Veterinary Medicine academic Prof. Dr. O. İrfan İlhak on ‘Media Disinformation Regarding White Meat’, Mehmet Ali Aşuk, Director of Balıkesir Provincial Industry and Technology, and Prof. Dr. Deniz A. Karaoğlan, an academic from BAÜN Faculty of Engineering, gave presentations on ‘R&D Centre Establishment Processes’. The workshop, chaired by Prof. Dr. Ergün Demir from BAÜN Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, continued with the participants' questions being answered.

In the afternoon, a roundtable discussion was held at BAÜN TTO as part of the workshop, which addressed current developments, problems, proposed solutions, and assessments for the future. During the session, developments and issues in the white meat sector were discussed with contributions from university, public and industry representatives, and a report on the subject was prepared.

The workshop concluded with BAÜN Technology Transfer Office President and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Satıl presenting plaques to the speakers, followed by a commemorative photo session.
