Balıkesir Vocational School and BAÜN TTO Meet with Automotive Sector Representatives
The Balıkesir Vocational School (BMYO) and Technology Transfer Office (BAÜN TTO) team met with members of the Balıkesir Chamber of Commerce 7th Professional Committee (Automotive and Spare Parts Trade) to evaluate opportunities for university-industry cooperation. The meeting was chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatmagül Tolun, who is both the Director of Balıkesir MYO and the Coordinator of Balıkesir University Technology Transfer Office, and attended by the TTO and MYO teams. The meeting was hosted by Refik Altan, Chairman of the Balıkesir Chamber of Commerce 7th Committee, and committee members. The meeting addressed the current needs of companies operating in the automotive and spare parts sector, the provision of qualified intermediate personnel, opportunities for practical training in vocational education, and university support for the sector. The MYO side provided information on practical training, internships, and certified programmes that could be implemented in line with the sector's expectations.
The Technology Transfer Office Coordination team gave presentations on joint project opportunities that could be carried out within the scope of university-industry cooperation, TÜBİTAK and KOSGEB support programmes, and R&D and innovation-focused cooperation models. In addition, views were exchanged on how the university's laboratory infrastructure and academic expertise could contribute to the sector's product development and commercialisation processes.
At the end of the meeting, Balıkesir University and the members of the Balıkesir Chamber of Commerce 7th Committee reached an agreement to strengthen cooperation in the implementation of joint projects, education and R&D activities. The Balıkesir University MYO and TTO team emphasised that efforts to increase interaction between the university and industry and contribute to regional development would continue to grow.
